The Stone House is located at the head of a sea loch, Locheynort, a walker’s paradise, and faces Ben Mhor the highest point on the Isle of South Uist, with Ben Hecla close by.  Walkers can also take advantage of Loch Druidbeg Nature Reserve and the abundant and rich archaeological sites within easy reach.  This area also boasts a recently discovered Tom Morris golf course which can be found at Askernish.  In addition to this a wide variety of bird and wildlife is on your doorstep with otters, deer, sea eagles frequently in view. The Machair Way explores the famous white sandy beaches of the west coast and there is ample opportunity for canoeing, cycling, windsurfing and many other outdoor pursuits. The idyllic scenery and open spaces combine to make the area also highly popular with those seeking a relaxing holiday.

Locheynort is a quiet crofting township on the eastern side of South Uist some 6 miles distant from Daliburgh which has a supermarket and Doctor’s surgery.  Lochboisdale with its bank and ferry service to the mainland is some 9 miles distant.  Balivanich, the main commercial area with its bank, hospital, restaurants, supermarkets and airport some 20 miles distant.
